Through this comprehensive theatre programme, students will learn to act, perform and speak in front of the audience. Students will develop effective communication skills and build confidence. Students will have the unique opportunity to create original scenes through acting exercises , interpreting literature, creative play-writing and improvisation; they will receive individualised coaching to refine their acting techniques . The course will end with a showcase for family and friends. One important learning objective of this programme is developing stage presence. This course will help students discover their uniqueness and strengths while they learn to deliver and project their voice and presence.

This intensive course offers students diverse opportunities to develop skills in various aspects of theatre and performance. The nurturing and encouraging environment at Cedar Academy helps foster creativity, confidence and accelerated learning. Through various theatre and team building activities, as well as exercises in movement, voice, acting, reading and improvisation, this course introduces not only acting techniques, but also the long-term benefits of theatre participation. One of the most unique features of this course is the learning of acting elements through Japanese Bunraku puppetry. Students will try out the core elements of puppetry - breath, focus and fixed point.

About the Instructor

JING WONG

Jing Wong, one of Hong Kong's most talented singer-songwriter and dramatist, will lead this programme. 

​

Jing graduated from London's prestigious Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design with first honours as a theatre designer and director, and obtained a Masters of Arts from the Central School of Speech and Drama.

 

Jing is a prolific performer and a keen educator. Jing's latest theatre concert / concert album "A Spy in the House of Love" was released and performed in November 2018, signalling his return to his theatre roots, where he explores how music and theatre can collide in more artistic and creative format.
